Boring has no meaning when we live in the now

How many times have you caught yourself saying, “This is boring,” when referring to a task, event, movie, work or experience? Have you ever looked at exactly why it seems boring?

We are always looking to feel a certain way, usually happy, fulfilled, peaceful, joyful. And generally if we are not getting any of those feelings from what we are doing we will most likely find it boring.

When we are not connected to our own source of happiness, peace, love and joy, we will find ourselves looking in the world for it and usually only finding momentary satisfaction.

By living in the present and focusing on what is right in front of us in this moment, we can stay connected to all of these things and magically time disappears no matter what we are doing banishing the word boring from our vocabulary.

Staying present is not always easy, however and there is usually some work that may have to be done in order to be in the moment.

Some of that work includes be aware of when we are if we find ourselves not in the moment. Usually we are in the past – worrying or angry about something that happened before – or in the future – creating a story about what MIGHT happen tomorrow and either worrying or angry about that.

Once we are aware of when we are we can look at it and question how true or valid our feelings about it are today. We often go along in life never questioning how we feel about things and then when we do, we realize our whole outlook on it has changed.

Let go of the past and leave the future to be what it is – non-existent. The past is over and the future will never come. Being in the present is where it’s at – and in the present everything is perfect and certainly never boring!
